The popular BMW 3 Series has a powerful sport version called the M3. Aside from the headlights, taillights, doors and trunklid, the M3 dons a completely different exterior than the other 3 Series models. Other differences with the 2008 M3 include more power, features and options.

For the first time, a V8 engine is being used in a 3 Series model. The 4.0-liter V8 can generate 414 horsepower and revs up to 8,400 rpm. Variable valve timing and individual throttle bodies are used, and both greatly increase the engine performance. BMW claims the M3 can go from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of roughly 175 mph. This engine teams with a six-speed manual transmission. The interiors MDrive allows the driver to control the standard electronic stability system, the steering responsiveness, the throttle response and more, all from the comfort of the leather ridden seats. The insides are also bedecked with a choice of wood trim or carbon fiber; the fancy appearance is complimented by a 825-watt, 16-speaker system, excellent instrumentation for easy vehicle maintenance, various comfort options and a multitude of safety technologies.

The protection added to the M3 is very impressive. Six standard airbags grace the cabin and they include advanced frontal airbags, side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags. The various support programs, antilock brakes and the four-wheel-disc brakes all serve in making this performance model safer than ever.

The 2008 M3 is one vehicle you don’t want to pass up. A convertible version is expected for release in the spring of 2008, so keep your eyes open!
