For the 2008 model year, the 3 series convertible maintains benchmark status over its competitors. Keeping up to the requisites in terms of luxury and refinement, only the high price will grant a second thought.

There are two different types of the BMW convertible; the 328i and 335i. Each trim comes in all-wheel-drive, and is equipped with a 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder engine. The 335i engine is twin-turbo-charged and produces up to 300 horsepower. The 328i’s valvetronic engine produces up to 230 horsepower.

The BMW 328i convertibles are equipped with a power-retractable hardtop, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, automatic climate control and a 10-speaker CD stereo including an auxiliary audio jack. The 335 model also has power front seats and the premium Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system.

The retractable power hardtop is fitting all year round, taking only 22 seconds to open. To increase storage space, the hardtop does not get in the way of easy trunk accessibility. For more cargo, the rear seats also fold down and include an optional through-loading system for larger items like golf clubs or skis. If the day is just too nice to leave the hardtop down, wait 23 seconds for it to close, and use the optional Windblocker Accessory for a more relaxing drive.

Comfortably seating four, BMW’s iDrive control system is an optional navigation system for the dashboard. The subwoofers beneath the front seats enhance the audio system and Sirius Satellite Radio can be installed for a wider range of entertainment.

Standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, run-flat tires and dynamic brake control. The convertible’s front side airbags extend to meet head level to make up for lack of side curtain airbags.
